A portion of tonight’s proceeds funds the Chicago Consular Corps’ (CCC) support of the University of Illinois Chicago (UIC). UIC uses the CCC funds to support international students’ academic and professional goals with the International Student Professional Development Grant. With far fewer sources of funding in U.S. universities, the grant enables international students to gain vital professional development opportunities to conduct and share their research, thereby contributing to the U.S.’s global leadership in innovation and entrepreneurship.
CCC funds are also used to support international students who participate the Dialogue Peer Educator (DPE) Program. DPE international students are paired with domestic students to facilitate dialogue-based customized workshops for student organizations, classes and residence halls on topics such as social identities, intercultural communication, and listening for understanding.
